Welcome! I’m Sophie. Bubbie at heart. Overenthusiastic [reader, writer, talker]. Eater of plants (especially beans) and lover of all things quirky-funky-fresh.

Maybe you know me, maybe you don’t, but, nevertheless, welcome to exclamation!, my personal newsletter for all things exciting! happening! and fun!

The name of this newsletter is in reference to a peer in a freshman year workshop group who, after reading my paper on Ursula Le Guin and the limits of translation in The Left Hand of Darkness, remarked that I used too many exclamation points. You don’t have to show that you think every point you make is brilliant. Ouch.

Perhaps (actually probably) she is right. But I choose to believe that this life— this short, finite life— is thrilling, gripping, and all sorts of magical. There are so many moments worthy of exclamation. The hilarity! The absurdity! The down right ridiculousness!

I write to understand, to share, and to shout into the deep dark void that is the internet. So if you are also someone who wants to *exclaim* with me— to transform life’s big feelings, experiments, and developments into the written word— may I suggest that you join this adventure and subscribe?
